Discuss State's Current Housing Crisis

Last Monday, I met with my colleagues from the legislature to discuss our state’s current housing crisis, housing production, and affordability.

I want to thank Assemblymember Laura Friedman for hosting this event in her district, and for inviting a panel of stakeholders that presented important data regarding our current housing situation in the state and in Los Angeles. These presentations facilitated very important conversations regarding how state and local jurisdictions could work together in providing solutions, and I look forward to taking this experience back to the legislature where these conversations will continue.

Promote How Easy it is to Use the Newest DASH Route

I joined students from Los Angeles Mission College and transit champion Kenny Uong to promote how easy it is to use the newest DASH Route in Sylmar. When I took office 4 years ago, I made a commitment to address resident concerns and complaints regarding traffic congestion and lack of accessible transportation options for students. In 2018, I secured $200,000 for a study to evaluate the feasibility of launching a hyper-local approach to public transportation options for residents of the 7th Council District resulting in the new DASH Sylmar route.

Resurfacing of Poor Conditions of Hillhaven Avenue

Concerned Tujunga residents contacted my office regarding the poor conditions of Hillhaven Avenue between Viva Drive and Alene Drive. My staff worked closely with City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services (BSS) to prioritize the resurfacing of this location. This stretch of Hillhaven had not been resurfaced in many years and was in very poor condition. In addition to this stretch of Hillhaven Avenue, BSS also resurfaced Amoret Drive between Hillhaven Avenue and Estepa Drive, and Hillhaven Avenue between Hillhaven Place and Tranquil Drive.

For more information on upcoming resurfacing projects in the district, please visit Streets LA at https://streetsla.lacity.org/ and select ‘Road Repair’. If you have any questions or would like to recommend another street in the area in need of resurfacing, please contact my Sylmar District Office at (818) 756-8409, Pacoima District Office at (818) 485-0600, or Sunland-Tujunga District Office at (818) 352-3287.
