Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - Progress Continued at the Paxton and Bradley Encampment

From Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk - Progress Continued at the Paxton and Bradley Encampment

Progress continued at the Paxton and Bradley encampment yesterday and today, as LA Family Housing outreach workers successfully sheltered approximately ten additional individuals, and City sanitation teams began the debris removal process. This brings the total number of housed individuals to 53 from this location. This collaborative process will continue over the next few days. I look forward to sharing the continued progress.

Lewis MacAdams

I’m devastated to hear about the passing of Lewis MacAdams, an environmental hero and legend in Los Angeles. His work sparked the LA River movement and paved way for the restoration and future of these iconic concrete channels. Lewis left an indelible mark in our city and his contributions will be remembered.

From Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk - Individuals from the Encampment at Paxton and Bradley Began Moving into Motel Rooms

Individuals from the encampment at Paxton and Bradley began moving into motel rooms made available through Project Room Key — an initiative aimed at getting aging and medically vulnerable homeless individuals off the streets and into motel and hotel rooms to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These resources are helping us fulfill a mission several months in the making. Outreach teams have been delivering intensive case management, individuals have been matched to housing vouchers and available units, and our sanitation teams have been providing regularly scheduled services for months before the crisis. This represents an important public safety improvement for the area, and I’m working closely with our City departments and law enforcement to secure the area and ensure that the public right of way is maintained and safe for our community.
