Met with Neighbors from Heal the Bay

Last Wednesday, I met with our neighbors from Heal the Bay to talk about their amazing contributions to our coast.

Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit established in 1985. They are dedicated to making the coastal waters and watersheds in Los Angeles safe, healthy, and clean.

It was also great seeing former Assemblymember Richard Katz who served #AD39 from 1980-1996. #ProtectOurCoast

To kick off #RedRibbonWeek, I would like to highlight our amazing volunteers from the Easterseals SoCal!

Red Ribbon Week aims to encourage students, and the community to live a drug-free lifestyle by participating in drug prevention activities. Through our volunteer’s commitment to our community, schools in my district were able to collect Red Ribbon supplies to share with students in their classrooms.

Ran on An Active LAPD Training Facility

Last Sunday, my team and I had the opportunity to run on an active LAPD training facility at the LAPD Mission Foot Pursuit 5K/1K Walk/Run, organized by LAPD Mission Division.

It was amazing seeing community members and stakeholders coming together to benefit the LAPD Mission Cadet and Jr Cadet program! #AD39

The BIG: LEAP Program

Sadly our community was among the hardest hit as a result of the pandemic. Angelenos may be eligible to receive $1,000 a month for a year. The BIG: LEAP program will provide $1,000 a month for 12 months to approximately 3,000 eligible Angelenos. The application opens from Friday, October 29th to Sunday, November 7th.

Additional $700 K to Restore the Lands Surrounding

Happening today! I secured an additional $700 k to restore the lands surrounding the Lopez Canyon for recreation space. Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment is hosting a virtual meeting today, Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 6:30 PM for you to provide feedback on the various restoration projects happening at Lopez Canyon. Come learn more about the Trail head, the Green Space project, and more.

COVID-19 Financial Recovery Program

Attention Small Businesses! Applications open tomorrow, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, for the $25M “Comeback Checks” COVID-19 financial recovery program. $5,000 grants are available for 5,000 small businesses located and operated within the City of Los Angeles. Grant recipients will be selected through a weighted lottery process, with final award recommendations based on the availability of funds, program guidelines, submission of all required information, and supporting documentation.
