Congratulations to our newest CERT graduates! This weekend, we conducted the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training in Armenian with the Los Angeles Fire Department. This was the first time that CERT Volunteers were given the opportunity to be trained in Armenian. Language should not be a barrier to learning life-saving skills and I was proud to sponsor the Armenian translation of the CERT Manual.

The CERT training teaches volunteers disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Interested in free training? Visit: lafd.org/join/volunteer/cert

Today I joined Chief of Police Michel Moore and LAPD Foothill Community Police Station CSP officers at the 50th annual Just Say NO Rally at Pacoima Charter Elementary. Hundreds of students attended the rally and pledged an oath to say NO to drugs, gangs, violence and bullying. As a community, it is our responsibility to encourage our youth to make smart decisions and reduce harmful issues in our neighborhoods.
