Assemblymember Luz Rivss - Provided Face Shields to First Responders at Pacifica Hospital and Northeast Valley Health Corporation

COVID-19 has been relentless but, so are we! Today, in partnership with Byte, we were able to help provide Face Shields to first responders at Pacifica Hospital and Northeast Valley Health Corporation. PPE’s are hard to come by, it’s important that we become resourceful and take the initiative to help each other out. That’s why I want to give a big shout out to Byte because they are a doctor-driven leader, providing customers access to at-home invisible aligners that deliver professional results in half the time and cost of traditional methods. They are using their 3D printers to make and assemble face shields to help first responders fight during this crisis. Thank you Jose Hernandez and the team at Byte for your leadership and generosity!

Assemblymember Luz Rivas - #DenimDay - Have Taken the Pledge to Support survivors and Raise Awareness of Sexual and Domestic Violence

Today is #DenimDay. I have taken the pledge to support survivors and raise awareness of sexual and domestic violence. This campaign started following the Italian Supreme Court overturning a rape conviction because they felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, that meant she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans which means it was consensual.

If you are a victim or know someone who is a victim, please know that you are not alone and there are resources available. For a list of resources in the Los Angeles area, you can visit: http://nodvla.org/what-is-domestic-violence/rape-sexual-assault/

I’m pleased to report the completion of an abatement and cleanup project at Sylmar Upper East channel from Ryan St. to Norris Ave. Residents contacted my office regarding overgrown vegetation and nuisance issues in this area. We worked closely with the Bureau of Sanitation to remove overgrown vegetation, trim trees and branches, clean up trash, and clear out the channel.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - The Annual Brush Clearance Season has been Pushed Back

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the LAFD has issued new brush clearance timelines for property owners located within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (VHFHSZ). The annual Brush Clearance Season has been pushed back from April 30, 2020, to June 1, 2020.

Though the inspection deadline has been moved back to June 1, keep in mind that brush clearance is a year-round responsibility. Clear early and clear often. Our district has seen frequent and significant wildfires in the past couple of years, including the La Tuna, Creek, and Saddleridge fires. The safety of your home during wildfire season can be significantly increased with proper brush clearance, advanced planning, and preparation. For more information, including current clearance requirements and helpful compliance videos by the LAFD Brush Clearance Unit, please go to www.lafd.org.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the
