Operation Bright SPOT

I’m pleased to share the progress we’ve made with Operation Bright S.P.O.T (“Strategic Partners Outfoxing Trash”) in Pacoima. This photo is from work done on Glenoaks from Gain Street to Osborne Street. My team removed weeds and gum, power washed sidewalks, swept streets, and repainted red curbs.

A cleaner district means better public safety, increased “walkability” for residents, and economic growth for small businesses. If you have a commercial corridor in mind that may benefit from Operation Bright S.P.O.T, please contact us.

This morning, we were awoken to a magnitude 4.2 earthquake with an epicenter in our district and have felt aftershocks throughout the day. The LAFD concluded there was no major infrastructure damage, loss of life or serious injury that we can directly attribute to the earthquake.

Today’s earthquake is a reminder to be prepared for any natural disaster including an earthquake or a wildfire. Visit the URL below for information from our Emergency Management Department on how to make a plan and be prepared for a disaster: https://bit.ly/39FCPo2

Library To Go!

City Libraries around Los Angeles are meeting the challenges of education and much needed entertainment during COVID-19. In addition to their ample selection of online programming and materials, the library is offering residents the option to pick up physical copies of books, DVDs, and more.

The new “Library to Go” program is operating at 18 hub libraries including our very own Sylmar Branch Library located at 14561 Polk St, Sylmar, CA 91342.

How it works:
1. Visit the Library to Go website and select your items
2. Your items are transferred to your library
3. Your “pick-up” appointment is scheduled
4. Pick up your items outside the library
