Scams Surrounding COVID-19

Whenever there is a crisis, scammers quickly find ways to cheat people out of their money. Resurface 2.26 Miles on Burnet Ave.

I’m pleased to inform you that my staff worked closely with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services to prioritize and resurface 2.26 miles on Burnet Ave. from Nordhoff St. to Rayen St. and Noble Ave. from Plummer St. to Nordhoff St. in North Hills last month.

This section of the streets had cracks, potholes and were uneven, and it’s thanks to community members like yourselves, who provided valuable input on the importance of having this section of the street repair that this project came into being. For more information on these upcoming projects in the district, please visit the Streets LA website at https://streetsla.lacity.org/ and select ‘Road Repair’.

If you have any questions or would like to recommend another street in the area in need of resurfacing, please contact my Sylmar District Office at (818)756-8409.

Planting of 43 Trees

In partnership with Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment, I’m pleased to announce that we completed the planting of 43 trees on the perimeter of Herrick Avenue Elementary School.

The installation process consisted of removing concrete to create new tree wells and watering service for all 43 drought tolerant trees for three years. This installation is part of my broader effort to deliver healthier, greener neighborhoods. These trees will go a long way towards cooling the school and surrounding neighborhoods, improving the air quality by filtering pollutants, and creating a more pleasant experience for children and parents who walk to and from school.

Residents can request a free street tree by calling my Sylmar District Office at (818)756-8409 or Pacoima District Office at (818)485-0600. Residents must be committed to watering the trees until established, approximately 3-5 years. All sites will be surveyed in advance to ensure eligibility.
