Graffiti, Illegal Dumping, Bulky Items

My staff conducts weekly community drives throughout the district and reports any neighborhood violations, such as graffiti, illegal dumping, bulky items and much more. My staff recently identified a burnt vehicle in Pacoima located on the 10200 block of Haddon Avenue and reported it to LADOT Official. The vehicle was deemed a public safety hazard and it was towed the next day.
Should you see an abandoned vehicle that poses a public hazard you may report it directly to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s Parking Enforcement Division by calling (818) 374-4823 or by contacting my Sylmar District Office at (818) 756-8409, Pacoima District Office at (818) 485-0600, or Sunland-Tujunga District Office at (818) 352-3287.

Illegal street racing and intersection takeover activities have seen a rise in the Valley which ultimately impact our communities and local businesses. My staff contacted the task force to report on several problematic locations throughout the 7th district. The Street Racing Task force set up an organized sting recently, and apprehended racers in Sylmar and Shadow Hills. This operation led to 84 citations, 4 impounds, and 2 arrests.
If you have specific information on regular street racing locations, days, and times (preferably within a 2-hr period), please report this information directly to the Valley Traffic Division Special Enforcement Team at VTDSET@lapd.online, and they can coordinate their team to address the issues.

California Legislative Women's Caucus

Thank you Governor Gavin Newsom for signing #AB131 with the California Legislative Women’s Caucus this morning!
As a part of this year’s landmark budget, AB 131 comes at a critical moment to expand #Childcare accessibility to more Californians.
I was proud to support this legislative priority for the #WomensCaucus!

Memorial Bike Ride

Yesterday, in partnership with the LAPD Mission Division we held a memorial bike ride in honor of the one-year anniversary of LAPD Officer Valentin Martinez’s passing. The proceeds raised for this event will benefit Mission’s youth groups and an education fund for Officer Valentin Martinez’s 5 month-old twin boys. The event also promoted good health and exercise habits in our community.

Today, I joined Discovery Cube Los Angeles to celebrate the official reopening of their doors to science lovers young and old. After more than a year closed, museum visitors can rediscover the wonders of science with new STEM exhibits, including the new exhibit ‘Festival of STEAM’ exhibit featuring five STEAM-themed areas with ten hands-on experiences.
To protect young science lovers and vulnerable members of our community, Discovery Cube is requiring all guests over the age of 2 to wear a mask when visiting the campus. Safe science is the best science!

Host an In-Person Hiring Event with Caltrans

Yesterday, I was proud to host an in-person hiring event with Caltrans in my district, which was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic.
I advocated for the #CleanCalifornia Initiative, which will massively expand state and local litter abatement efforts. This initiative will generate an estimated 10,000 to 11,000 jobs over three years, including for people exiting homelessness, at-risk youth, veterans, those reentering society from incarceration, local artists and students.
Tremendous thanks to Director Tony Tavares at Caltrans District 7 and President Armida Ornelas at Los Angeles Mission College for your partnership to make this a successful #JobFair!
