Women’s Right to Vote Town Hall

Please join me Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020 from 11:00 am -12:00 pm, for a Women’s Right to Vote Town Hall with City of San Fernando Councilwoman Sylvia Ballin and Councilwoman Mary Mendoza. Tune into this women-led conversation where we will be discussing the importance of voting, having women leaders in government, being civically engaged in your community, and the challenges women face. Find out how to register to vote and learn about several deadlines closely approaching.

The ¡El Grito! 2020 Telethon

The ¡El Grito! 2020 telethon fundraiser airs tomorrow! Join us as we come together in celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day and the September Independence Days of Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

This free, public televised concert will help raise funds for Angelenos most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the show, we will highlight our vibrant Latino community and showcase the immense contributions Latinos have made to the City.

My team participated in the Sylmar Census Caravan in order to get the word out about the #2020Census. The Deadline to fill out the questionnaire is September 30th, 2020. We cannot allow our communities to be short changed in the 2020 count. The good news is that there is still time to fill out your questionnaire!

The deadline to complete the #Census is September 30, 2020! Did you know that California loses $10,000 in federal funding over a decade, for every resident not counted in the #2020Census?

This critical funding that goes towards:
1) Social service programs – WIC and Section 8 housing vouchers.
2) Medi-Cal which provides health insurance to low-income residents.
3) Education – funding that goes to our school districts, and School Breakfast and Lunch programs.

We need to boost participation rates in these parts of our district:
-North Hollywood
-Sunland
-Pacoima/Arleta
-San Fernando
-Sylmar
-Sun Valley

If you haven’t filled out your Census, please do so before the deadline. If you have already filled the Census, please encourage your friends and families to fill out their Census.
