Congratulations to My Friend Alex Padilla

From San Fernando High School to our nation’s Capitol. Congratulations to my friend Alex Padilla who was sworn in as California’s first Latino U.S. Senator. As a fellow San Fernando Tiger, I couldn’t be more proud.

It’s truly a historic moment for the State of California to welcome its first Latino U.S. Senator. I look forward to our continued work together to deliver resources to our community and fighting for equality for all.

We are here this morning at All Nations Church at Lake View Terrace for free food distributions. I’m proud to partner with County Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s office, the LA Regional Food Bank, and All Nations Church. It is important that we come together as a community to address the needs of those most affected during this pandemic. Walk-ups are not allowed and there are no eligibility requirements. Traffic safety is of the utmost importance, so take the 210 freeway north to the Osborne exit, then turn right and head east along Foothill Blvd, joining the line to enter the church property at 10000 Foothill Blvd. Food distributions end at 12 P.M.

Empower and Invest in Women-Owned Businesses

The current economic deficit caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately affecting working women. Now more than ever, it’s important we empower and invest in women-owned businesses.

We all have an opportunity to support LA’s women-owned restaurants January 21 through January 30, 2021 during the RE:Her food festival. Launched on the anniversary of the groundbreaking Women’s March of 2017, the 10-day festival will include unique collaborations, thematic menus, and one-on-one conversations among female industry leaders.

Support restaurants by ordering takeout from one of the more than 100 restaurants participating in the virtual festival: https://www.regardingherfood.com/valley or https://issuu.com/regardingherfood/docs/re_her_food_festival_planner

RE: Her is a charitable organization for women-owned restaurants in Los Angeles created in response to the economic impact of COVID-19 on the restaurant industry. You can support their work by ordering a sweatshirt or making a donation to their non-profit at: regardingherfood.com

If you are a female restaurant owner in Los Angeles County join RE:Her at: https://www.regardingherfood.com/join

Individually we are powerful, but working together we are unstoppable!

Stay Safe this Holiday Season

Los Angeles has seen a surge in #COVID19 cases. The ICU capacity in Southern California is at 0%. This means our hospitals are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients.

Our holiday celebrations will need to be different this year to prevent the spread of a COVID-19. Please reconsider traveling or gathering outside of your household, and instead host virtual activities. This is a tough time to not celebrate with friends and families but we all have to do our part to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
