Kaiser Permanente Hippocrates Circle

My team was honored to join the Kaiser Permanente Hippocrates Circle Middle School Physician Mentoring Program graduation. The Hippocrates Circle Program (HCP) was created to inspire youth in our communities to pursue careers as physicians. The goal is to motivate middle school students to finish high school, pursue higher education, and eventually achieve their goal of being a doctor. I am proud of all the young and bright students who are preparing to be the next generation of physicians.

Thank you to Kaiser Permanente for partnering with Bert Corona Middle School to mentor our students in #AD39 and sharing your expertise in the medical field.

Damaged Street Sign at the Intersection of Sharp Avenue and Fox Street

During a recent community drive, my team identified a damaged street sign at the intersection of Sharp Avenue and Fox Street. The sign informs drivers of the clearance for overhead power lines. My team addressed this public safety issue and directed city crews to reinstall the sign.

If you see a similar issue such as missing stop signs, street name signs, or traffic lights in need of repair, please contact LADOT at (818) 374-4688 or report it to our city crew via 3-1-1.

Thank you to FundaMental Change

Thank you to FundaMental Change for inviting me to your 4th Annual Mental Health Symposium. I was honored to share the stage with some of our elected officials and mental health experts to echo the importance of mental health awareness.

This year’s theme was “Moving Forward Together with Purpose”. This theme fits well after two years of being cooped up in our homes from the pandemic. Trauma from COVID-19 had a negative impact on our mental health. Some experienced financial loss, struggled to find a new job and had difficulties paying rent. Some individuals were able to seek the help they needed, but others were not able to due to lack of resources.

I am proud of the great work FundaMental Change is doing to raise awareness, eliminate the stigma, and provide supportive services to people living with mental illness. I will continue to support our organizations doing the work to help our communities with mental health. You can count on me as an ally.

Thank you to FundaMental Change for inviting

Every year, I recognize one non-profit in #AD39 that provides excellent services with a mission to uplift community members. This year, I am greatly honored to recognize Plaza Comunitaria Sinaloa as the 39th Assembly District’s Non-Profit of the Year!

Plaza Comunitaria Sinaloa has gone above and beyond to provide excellent educational and workforce development workshops for constituents in #AD39. The programs that are offered to lift up our community are essential programs such as adult literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL), GED preparation courses, citizenship test preparation, and mental health resources. These core programs have given community members support, upward mobility, and admission into new career paths. I am truly grateful to have such a dedicated nonprofit in #AD39! #CaLeg

Congratulations to Marta Segura

Congratulations to Marta Segura, for her appointment as the City of Los Angeles‘s first-ever Chief Heat Officer!

As Chief Heat Officer, Marta Segura will be overseeing the city’s response to rising temperatures across the region and mitigating efforts against extreme heat. As the temperature in Los Angeles continues to rise to dangerous levels, public awareness of the serious climate risk is more important than ever. That’s why I have taken initiative by authoring AB 2238, and AB 2076 to tackle climate change, specifically extreme heat.

Thank you to Mayor Eric Garcetti, and the Los Angeles City Council for passing Councilmember Paul Krekorian‘s motion to protect communities from the dangers of extreme heat!

Congratulations to Marta Segura, for her appointment

On 26th May, I visited some of our local restaurants in our district. During the pandemic and in recovery I have continued to fight for resources that provide critical relief for these small businesses. Whether you’re looking for unique, one-of-a-kind, restaurants, shops, or professional services, the Seventh Council District has A LOT to offer! Remember when you support our local businesses, you are supporting our community.
