Ban on the Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products

Great News! The California Governor Gavin Newsom just signed #SB793 into law to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products! I am a proud co-author and voted in support of this bill because I believe that we need to keep our kids safe from the harmful effects and addictive qualities of tobacco products.

womens vote100

I was happy to join First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and Assemblymember Monique Limón for a #womensvote100 conversation! We discussed the importance of voting and why it’s important to have women leaders in government. I am honored and proud to represent #AD39 but I am only the 156th woman to serve in #CALeg out of over 4,000 members. Although we have come far, we still have so much work to do to reach #equality!

Protect the Health and Safety of Domestic Workers

Today, I proudly presented #SB1257 authored by Senator María Elena Durazo to protect the health and safety of domestic workers in California. Last year, during our wildfires, we saw domestic workers forced to stay in evacuation zones by their employers, jeopardizing their wellbeing. For far too long, domestic workers have been excluded from labor protections. It is time we address this grave inequality by providing protection to our domestic workers.

A cleaner district means better public safety

I’m pleased to share the progress we’ve made with Operation Bright S.P.O.T (“Strategic Partners Outfoxing Trash”) in Pacoima. This photo is from work completed in July on Van Nuys Boulevard from Laurel Canyon Boulevard to Remick Avenue. My team power washed sidewalks, removed gum, and cleaned up debris from the area.
A cleaner district means better public safety, increased “walkability” for residents, and economic growth for small businesses.

100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment — the amendment that guarantees and protects a woman’s right to vote.
Why was it important for women to vote?
When we vote, we help shape the policies that effect our lives, our futures, and our communities. Our vote is an expression of what we value and it is a powerful tool for change.
On #WomensEqualityDay, we celebrate the progress that the fearless #suffragettes and their allies have made so that women and girls everywhere have a fair share, fair go, and fair say.
