After School Programs for Elementary

📢 Attention parents 📢 City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks is offering safe, structured learning centers and after school programs for elementary and middle school students at 60 recreation centers across the City. The cost of this program varies by location, but is FREE for families who are qualified for free/reduced lunch fee at LAUSD schools.

Enroll your child in affordable safe structured environments which include supervised learning spaces, free internet access, recreational activities, and more.
All learning centers follow guidance from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
DAILY SCHEDULE
• Drop off — 8am – 8:45am
• Virtual Learning — 9am – 2:15pm
• Lunch / Recess — 11:30am – 1pm
• Virtual Learning — 1pm – 2:15pm
• Homework — 2:15pm – 3pm
• RAP After School Program — 3pm – 7pm
• Pick up Required — 7pm

📢 Attention small businesses, micro-entrepreneurs, and non-rpofits:

The LA Regional COVID-19 Fund is accepting applications NOW through Spetember 4th for round 4 of funding — $100 million in grants are available. There are 6 rounds of funding with finalists notified each round.
• Micro-entrepreneurs: for-profit entities that made less than $100,000 in gross revenues based on most recently filed tax return (2018 or 2019). Eligible for a $5,000 grant.
• Very small businesses: for-profit entities that made $100,001-$1,000,000 in gross revenues based on most recently filed tax return (2018 or 2019). Eligible for a $15,000 grant.
• Very small non-profits: 501c3 entities and chambers of commerce that made less than $1,000,000 in gross revenues based on most recently filed 990 Form (2018 or 2019). Eligible for a $15,000 grant.
• Small businesses: for-profit entities that made $1,000,001-$5,000,000 in gross revenues based on most recently filed tax return (2018 or 2019). Eligible for a $25,000 grant.
If not selected this round, applicants are encouraged to continue applying for future funding. The fund’s website is available in four languages and applications are available in 15 languages.

Legislative Floor Session in Sacramento

I am in the final stretch of our Legislative Floor Session! I am working in Sacramento to vote on bills that represent the values of #AD39 until Monday, August 31! My team is also working tirelessly to serve you.

PYS Prevention

Today, my Office partnered with PYS Prevention, a great non-profit from the City of San Fernando to help spread the word on the #2020Census. Partnerships like this, help disseminate much needed information to groups in hard to count areas and improves #census response data. I’d like to thank Pueblo y Salud for spearheading these Census Pop-up stations and to all of our volunteers for being instrumental in getting the word out today! Let’s bring much needed resources to the #NESFV! #AD39

Unemployment insurance updates:

California is now participating in the #LostWagesAssistance program. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the state’s application recently and will provide an initial amount of $4.5 billion, with the possibility of additional funding going forward.
This will provide an additional $300 per week for claimants who receive at least $100 per week in unemployment benefits. If you qualify, payments are for weeks of unemployment dating back to August 1, even if you are paid later.
The supplemental payment of $300 per week will be available for a limited period of time, a minimum of three weeks, for claimants who are:
1. currently eligible to receive at least $100 per week in benefits, and
2. who have provided a self-certification that they are unemployed or partially unemployed due to disruptions caused by COVID-19.
The EDD will begin processing Lost Wages Assistance payments in phases for eligible individuals in the week beginning September 7, 2020. For more details on this program, feel free to visit the link below or contact my office at 818-504-3911 for assistance.
