Second Blood Drive Event

Given the success of our first blood drive last week, I’m proud to announce a second blood drive event in partnership with the American Red Cross, Casa Torres, and the Red Cross Sylmar Coalition tomorrow, Thursday, June 4, 2020 (10 am – 4 pm) at Palacio Torres. Donating blood is one of the easiest and most important things a person can do to help save a life. For the hour it takes to give blood, there could be a whole community of people thankful for another birthday given to their loved one. Now more than ever, your donation is critical. Please join us to help us meet our goal of signing up at least 56 donors. To book an appointment, please visit redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor Code: PalacioTorres.

Motion to Cut Funding to the LAPD

Today I co-introduced a motion to cut funding to the LAPD. These times demand a more careful reflection of our City’s priorities and values — no single department should be exempt from review. The proposal calls for cuts between $100 million and $150 million from the LAPD’s 2020-21 budget and will be reviewed by the City Council in the coming weeks. Read the motion here: https://tinyurl.com/ya2crxtg
