Feliz Dia de la Independencia
Feliz Dia de la Independencia

Last night, we kicked off Latino Heritage Month with the celebration of El Grito. We came together to raise funds to benefit Comunidades Indígenas en Liderazgo (CIELO’s), Undocu-Indigenous Fund. The undocumented-indigenous community is the most vulnerable among Latinos during this time because they do not qualify for federal relief funds, face language barriers, and are at high risk of COVID-19 contraction since many are frontline essential workers in the service sector such as housekeepers, restaurant workers, and garment workers.

Our event was a beautiful display of Los Angeles’ diversity and showcased the immense contributions of Latinos in Los Angeles. If you missed our El Grito 2020 telethon you can still view it online at: https://elgrito2020.com.

Thank you again to our partners at Telemundo 52 Los Angeles, NBC 4 Los Angeles, Council District 14, El Pueblo de Los Angeles, and our sponsors and supporters for their contributions to making this event possible.

During Latino Heritage Month, I'm

Happy #HispanicHeritageMonth!

Happy #HispanicHeritageMonth! From September 15 to October 15, our country celebrates the invaluable contributions Hispanic Americans have made to the United States.

As the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, and a representative of a predominantly Latino district, I am deeply committed to ensuring that our State not only celebrates the Latino community, but also promotes policies that do not overlook our unique needs and aspirations.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of Latinos and Latinas who are putting their lives on the line during this pandemic. From the essential workers picking our food on the fields, to the domestic workers working day in, day out, California would not be able to run without your work. Thank you!

¡Muchas gracias!

Happy #HispanicHeritageMonth! From September 15 to October

“For me, bringing El Grito and keeping it even during this pandemic, I thought was even more important. So we came up with this new format as a telethon, to use it as an opportunity to help elevate the profile of the sacrifices that are being made among members of our community, and really help get them the critical resources that they need.”

Tune in TONIGHT at 6:30 PM for ¡El Grito! 2020 ft. Los Tucanes de Tijuana & La Santa Cecilia. More information at https://elgrito2020.com.
