Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - The City Rolled out 300 Hand Sanitizing Stations

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - The City Rolled out 300 Hand Sanitizing Stations

Through a Council directive I initiated, the City rolled out 300 hand sanitizing stations at bus shelters across Los Angeles. In addition to wearing face coverings and practicing physical distancing, keeping your hands clean is one of the most effective ways to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This is especially important for the Northeast San Fernando Valley as the Van Nuys corridor is home of one of the highest bus ridership in the region.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - Official Guidance - Angelenos Must Wear Face Coverings

Wearing a face covering when you are interacting with others will help to contain your respiratory droplets. However, a face covering is not a substitute for other critical measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 — most importantly, stay home and practice safe physical distancing to help flatten the curve. A few important things to remember:

✅ Angelenos must wear face coverings while running errands in order to protect essential workers.
✅ Local manufacturers sell face coverings at the L.A. Protects website.
Face coverings can be made with a bandana or scarf.
✅ You should wash your face mask after each use.
At this time, you should not be purchasing medical-grade masks, due to a shortage for first responders and medical professionals.
✅Visit: www.corona-virus.la/FaceCovering for more information

From Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk - Denim Day

Sexual assault, sexual violence and victim shaming will not be tolerated in the City of Los Angeles. Today on Denim Day, I joined Council President Nury Martinez, LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis, and Patti Giggans, Executive Director of Peace Over Violence in wearing denim to support survivors of sexual violence.

With safer at home orders in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, victims are more vulnerable than ever while sheltering in place with their abuser. No one should have to suffer. There are services and resources available for those who need it.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk - Reconstruction Project at La Tuna Canyon Road

Following the devastating La Tuna Fire in September 2017, our district saw a great deal of debris flow along the burned hillsides following the rainy season. In March of 2018, heavy rains caused a large sinkhole which threatened the stability of La Tuna Canyon Road.

My office worked closely with the Bureau of Engineering to secure over $4 million in funding for this massive reconstruction project, which included debris removal/dewatering, replacement of the large storm drain pipe that runs beneath the road, completion of new inlet and outlet structures, installation of secondary drainage infrastructure, and reconstructing the embankment itself. I am pleased to announce the completion of this project and enhanced safety measures put in place to protect the public. If you have any questions about this project, COVID-19, or any other issue in the district, please do not hesitate to contact my Pacoima District Office at (818) 485-0600 or Sylmar District Office at (818)-756-8409.
