Recognition Small Business Magaly's Tamales & Mexican Grill
Recognition Small Business Magaly's Tamales & Mexican Grill

I am privileged to recognize an exemplary small business in #AD39. Magaly’s Tamales & Mexican Grill has been a pillar of support in the San Fernando Community for many years.

During the early outbreak of COVID-19, there was a noticeable shortage of essential food items at local groceries as a result of panic-induced buying and unnecessary stockpiling. Determined to meet the moment and support the most vulnerable in the community, Magaly’s began selling essential food items at cost with their wholesale license. They have also contributed and donated many essential grocery items to local food drives in the City of San Fernando in order to give back to working families adversely impacted by the crisis.

It is a tremendous honor to recognize Magaly and Chris Colelli, owners, and operators of Magaly’s Tamales as our Small Business of the Year! Magaly’s Tamales represents what is great about the 39th Assembly District: Innovation, resilience, and community service. Thank you for serving our community. #SmallBusinessOfTheYear

Completion of an Abatement and Cleanup Project

My team is available to you and working around the clock to continue the delivery of city services. I’m pleased to report the completion of an abatement and cleanup project at Sylmar Upper East channel from Bledsoe St. to Tyler Ave. Residents contacted my office regarding overgrown vegetation and nuisance issues in this area. We worked closely with the Bureau of Sanitation to remove overgrown vegetation, trim trees and branches, clean up trash, and clear out the channel. The work resulted in over 200 cubic yards of trash and debris removed. If you see a similar issue in your neighborhood, please call my Pacoima Office at 818-485-0600 or Sylmar District Office at 818-756-8409.

In an effort to make it easier to observe Safer at Home Orders, I joined my colleagues in extending the City’s relaxed parking rules. The City will not ticket parked vehicles in rush-hour, anti-gridlock zones or residential areas during street sweeping hours until at least August 1, 2020. The City has also extended the deadline for payment on existing parking fines. While residents are encouraged to pay any existing fines if they are able, there will be no increase in fines for failure to pay. This postponement also applies to parked vehicles with expired registration.
