I’m pleased to share the progress made through Operation Bright SPOT, a targeted neighborhood cleanup program at our major commercial corridors in Sylmar. My team completed work on Glenoaks Blvd. from Hubbard Street to Polk Street. We power washed side walks, removed gum and weed, picked up trash, and repainted red curbs. Now, we’re on to Mission Hills. See a commercial corridor in your area that needs cleaning? Please call my district office at 818-485-0600.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - Preparing For The Wildfire Season

Over the last three years, our District has experienced some of the largest wildfires in the state’s history. With temperatures rising, we’ve seen a couple of small brush fires occur in our district this month, such as one in Shadow Hills this week that burned two acres of brush.

Residents can prepare for the wildfire season and help prevent loss of life and property by clearing brush around homes and buildings, making homes more fire resistant and preparing for evacuation.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - Resources for UnBanked Angelenos

Many Angelenos have started to receive stimulus checks. If you filed your 2019 or 2018 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax return with direct deposit information, you are among the first to receive payment into your bank account. However, many taxpayers don’t have an account, which can cause delays in receiving payments.

Through the City’s partnership, you may now open your own affordable bank or credit union account online at the City’s website to claim your money faster. In addition, our partners, Bank of America, Chase, and Union Bank, have allowed Angelenos to cash stimulus checks as a non-account holder with zero fees. Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - Grateful to the Marine Corps League of the San Fernando Valley

This crisis has brought our community’s strong volunteer spirit to the forefront, and I’m proud of our efforts to take care of our seniors. Grateful to the Marine Corps League of the San Fernando Valley for their support in delivering groceries from North Valley Caring Services to seniors in our District.

Through our partnership with NVCS and other food pantries, Team MRod is delivering thousands of meals and hygiene kits to homebound seniors every week.

I’m also pleased to share that the City has expanded its Emergency Senior Meals Response program for those 60 and older through a partnership with EveryTable. This meal program is an expansion of the current efforts I started in the 7th Council District. If you know of any seniors in need of meals or groceries, please contact my office at 818-485-0600.

From Assemblymember Luz Rivas Desk - Introducing ACR 263

In my first year as a Legislator, I had the privilege of introducing ACR 263 which dedicated the highway interchange at the I-5 and I-210 in #AD39 as the Caltrans Fallen Workers Memorial Interchange. It was an honor to help memorialize the workers who lost their lives repairing and improving our highways. We remembered them then and we continue to remember them now as we memorialize their heroic services to improve the transportation within our great state.

In my first year as a Legislator,

My colleagues and I, from the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, have been working with Governor Gavin Newsom to ensure our working families have access to affordable and quality child care. The State has just launched its portal to help our working families find local child care options. If you are a parent or working family that needs child care services please visit: http://mychildcare.ca.gov.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez - Progress in Pacoima

Progress in Pacoima. My office worked closely with City agencies to complete the resurfacing project on Osborne Street from Laurel Canyon Boulevard to Arleta Avenue. Due to the poor conditions of this street, Osborne was resurfaced three times, in three different phases over the year, culminating with this last phase that was completed yesterday. In addition to the repaving of the street, Street Services upgraded every sidewalk intersection to ADA compliant access ramps.

If there’s a street in your neighborhood that needs to be fixed, please call 3-1-1, download the MyLA311 app, or contact my office at 818-485-0600 so we can help you resolve the issue in a timely manner.
