Operation Bright S.P.O.T. in SylmarOperation Bright S.P.O.T. in Sylmar

I’m pleased to share the recent progress we made with Operation Bright S.P.O.T. in Sylmar on Olive View Dr. between Roxford and Bledsoe. Our crew removed overgrown vegetation, weeds, and miscellaneous debris. We must work collaboratively to keep our communities clean. If you see illegal dumping or debris in your neighborhood, don’t wait for it to become a nuisance, report it to our city crew via 3-1-1. It is free, easy, and can be done four ways:
-Dial 311 from your phone
-Report on their website, https://myla311.lacity.org/
-Download and use the “MyLA311” app from your smartphone
-Call the Bureau of Sanitation Customer Service Center (800) 773-2489
If you have a corridor in mind that may benefit from Operation Bright S.P.O.T., please call the Pacoima office at (818) 485-0600, Sylmar office at (818) 756-8409, or Sunland-Tujunga office at (818) 352-3287.

CSAC

As part of my continued effort to create a safer community, my team joined the Community Safety Advisory Council (CSAC) to identify critical locations to prevent crime through environmental design. This consisted of a walkthrough of the San Fernando Gardens with community stakeholders, San Fernando Gardens residents, and CSP Officers. CSAC performed two analyses, one in the morning and in the evening.
They identified locations, where lighting can be improved, where cameras can be added, and where traffic signage can be improved to address speeding issues.

The pandemic has highlighted the equity gap as we continue to see so many individuals and families homeless or on the verge of homelessness. Today’s vote is to adopt a target goal of building 25,000 new units by the year 2025 as the city’s homeless housing goal sets higher and greater goals than the City of Los Angeles has ever set before. We will not be able to fulfill these targets alone. We need all legislators from the halls of the state capitol to the federal government working together to address homelessness and ensure that there are eviction protections and new housing in place to stop individuals and families from falling into homelessness.

Provide Free COVID-19 Vaccines and Testing

With the resurgence of COVID-19 cases from the #DeltaVariant, it is critical that our most vulnerable have equitable access to COVID-19 #Vaccines. In an effort to increase vaccination rates, my team partnered with the Office of Supervisor Sheila Kuehl last weekend to provide free COVID-19 vaccines and testing.

I’m happy to share that 277 vaccines and 42 COVID-19 tests were provided at Pacoima City Hall to constituents in #AD39!

I would like to invite all who are interested in getting vaccinated to save the date for the next vaccine and resource fair on August 21st, 2021!

Speaker Series to Talk about Extreme Heat

Thank you California Natural Resources Agency for inviting me to your Speaker Series on Tuesday to talk about #ExtremeHeat!

As Chair of the Assembly Natural Resources Committee, I will continue to work hard to ensure we prepare our state for these difficult climate crises we are dealing with.
And I will continue to push hard on #AB585, my bill to create an Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program so our local governments have the means to mitigate these worsening heat waves. #NaturalResources #BeatTheHeat
