Lenchitas is a beloved restaurant in Pacoima and a beautiful example of what it means to serve the community. After 45 years in business, they have expanded into Lenchita’s Commercial Kitchen as a result of the financial incentives we created through the JEDI Zones that have availed $1 million in capital to enable this expansion that will offer space for emerging entrepreneurs in our community.

Today’s event exemplifies the efforts I’m leading to bring additional tools to invest in our community. Thanks to our local BusinessSource Center, ICON CDC, and the Economic & Workforce Development Department for your support.

Thank you, and congratulations to Chef Luna and the Renteria family for continuing a tradition that creates a space where one can achieve their greatest potential in the North East San Fernando Valley.

⛱ We concluded our Summer Movie Nights at Hansen Dam Aquatic Center with a screening of Finding Nemo. Community members gathered to enjoy the pool, food trucks and to partake in learning about city resources. Every summer, I enjoy connecting with all the families in attendance. Council District 7 has been home my entire life, and it is wonderful to share all that it has to offer with each of you!

🌹 In that spirit, I invite you to El Grito. This year I am honored to be the Madrina for El Grito on September 15 from 5 pm – 11 pm. El Grito is a free event celebrating Mexico’s Independence with live music, vendors curated by @thegoddessmercado, a silent disco, and much more. Please save the date for this special event.

I am excited and grateful to be part of the momentous Grand Opening of Summit View Apartments! We celebrate the realization of a vision—a 49-unit permanent supportive housing project for our Veterans experiencing chronic homelessness in Sylmar.

This transformative project represents a commitment to caring for those who have bravely served our nation. It is a testament to the power of collaboration among all levels of government and ensures that every individual has a place to call home.

I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in making this project a reality, including LA Family Housing, Many Mansion, partners, advocates, and community members who have championed this cause alongside!

I have been proud to work on and support legislation that converts asphalt into green spaces.

CALFIRE’s first round of California’s $117 million Green Schoolyard Grant program will be awarded to the Hollywood Beautification Team and Council for Watershed Health. The $47 million will help increase green spaces, create drought-tolerant areas on school grounds, and create spaces that will help children connect to nature.

I was proud to celebrate the grand opening of the Summit View Apartments, which provide much-needed housing for Veterans experiencing homelessness. As a daughter of a Vietnam War veteran, advocate for Veteran services, and representative for hundreds of veterans, I am particularly thrilled to welcome this housing in my district. It is a permanent supportive housing development I championed because projects like this ensure our community receives the services and assistance it deserves.

Thank you to everyone who partnered with and supported Summit View.

To the residents of Summit View, we thank you for your service. Welcome home, and enjoy the view!

On Sunday, I was proud to honor the Crouch Family.

The Crouch Family has built a long-lasting legacy and impact rooted deeply in Pacoima, beginning with the late Bishop Benjamin J. Crouch and enduring through the work of late Pastor Andrae and current Pastor Sandra Crouch, who have been pillars of our community. The Crouch family are Grammy Award-winning musicians and humanitarians, using their platform to inspire others, bring the community together, and give back to Pacoima. The Crouch Family Legacy Square is a recognition of the Crouch Family’s history and contributions to our community of Pacoima and the world, stemming from their impressive musical and community-focused accomplishments.
