Home-Sharing Ordinance

Dear Stakeholder,
On Thursday, July 9, City Planning will hold a staff public hearing for the proposed Amendment to the Home-Sharing Ordinance (Case No. CPC-2020-2762-CA). Details on how to join the meeting are provided in the revised hearing notice, now available online.

From 5:30 to 6 p.m., staff will provide a brief presentation, followed by a public hearing during which all interested parties will be provided an opportunity to make public comment for the record. No decision will be made during the hearing. Testimony received will be incorporated into the staff recommendation report that will be presented to the City Planning Commission for recommendation later this summer.

As a reminder, a fact sheet containing an overview of the ordinance, background information, and answers to frequently-asked questions is available online. In addition, members of the public may also submit written comments or questions to cally.hardy@lacity.org prior to July 10, 2020. After that date, written comments should be provided to the City Planning Commission at cpc@lacity.org. The proposed amendment is tentatively scheduled for consideration by the City Planning Commission on Thursday, August 13, 2020.

Housing Elements

Dear interested parties,
Thank you to the over 300 community members that participated in the Housing Element Webinars over the past few weeks. In the midst of these Webinars, the nation was faced with renewed conversations around systemic racial inequity, an issue the Plan to House LA seeks to address. With the insightful discussions and contributions in our webinars, we continue to identify solutions and develop goals that will further the principles of equitable and affordable housing opportunities for all.

What’s Next? Be sure to complete the Digital Workshop to share your input. We will compile the comments we received in this vision phase of the plan update into an outreach summary to share out in the future.

We are moving to the next phase of the Plan update, the Concepts Phase this summer. We will be continuing outreach throughout the Housing Element Update process and there will be more opportunities to help shape the Plan to House LA.

Estimados Interesados,

Dr. April Moreno Wellness for her podcast and discuss the impacts #COVID19

A couple months ago, I had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. April Moreno Wellness for her podcast and discuss the impacts #COVID19 has on #AD39. Although this podcast was recorded a couple months ago, the information that was provided still stands.

We know that:
1) Wearing a face mask when you’re out in public helps prevent the spread of the #coronavirus, and
2) Communities of color like AD39 which are primarily comprised of Latinos and people of color have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

As the state is re-opening, we need to continue to do our part to slow the spread of COVID19 by wearing face masks so that we can all stay healthy, and safe for the community, our family, and ourselves.

Delivering Personal Protective Equipment

Earlier today, I had the opportunity of delivering much needed Personal Protective Equipment to Northeast Valley Health Corporation, one of the most active organizations in the #AD39. NEVHC goes above and beyond their call of duty, serving our most vulnerable even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to thank the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, for their generous donations and all of their work throughout this pandemic. I also want to thank the Royal Business Bank and Simon Pang for their donation of hand sanitizers. This is what public service is all about!

Earlier today, I had the opportunity of

On January 1, 1863, President Lincoln issued The Emancipation Proclamation. Sadly, it took more than two years for that news to reach enslaved African-Americans in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. Today, we honor and celebrate that day that all Black Americans became free, and we continue to fight for racial equality for all Black Americans! #Juneteenth
