Distributed 1000 Free Thanksgiving Turkeys

In celebration of the anticipated holiday season, I distributed 1000 free #Thanksgiving turkeys and meal kits to 7th Council District residents.

Working with our community organizations, churches, and schools, my office identified families across the district in need to ensure that no family went without a Thanksgiving meal. ⁣

Round 2 applications for the Comeback Checks program open today at 10 AM. $5k grants will be available for 5,000 small businesses located and operated within the City of Los Angeles.

Visión y Compromiso, in collaboration with the Health Equity Research and Education (HERE) Center, invites you to join our virtual town hall, The Impact of Houselessness on the Mental Health and Wellbeing of the Community. During this event, you will be able to join an ongoing conversation that:

· Humanizes the reality of houselessness in the San Fernando Valley
· Debunks the myths about the unhoused
· Examines the overall impact of the community’s mental health in the face of this problem
· Discusses the ongoing initiatives that aim to reduce this crisis

Confirmed panelists are Dr. Jose H. Vargas from the HERE Center, Angel Quintanilla from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and Marco Santana from LA Family Housing.
