Responding to emergency situations is something we’ve had to do repeatedly in my time in office, and Tropical Storm Kay is passing through Southern California, which has meant…some rain!
In many of our neighborhoods, we’ve experienced mud slides and flooded streets during previous storm events—it’s why we want to make sure you know where the available resources are in Council District 7 in the event it becomes necessary.

September 2022 is Alopecia Areata Awareness Month.

In the United States, nearly 7 million Americans suffer from Alopecia Areata, also known as AA, with most Americans experiencing their first symptoms as children, teenagers, or young adults. AA not only causes hair loss, but has been known to drastically impact the mental health of those that have been diagnosed.
This was brought to my attention by an active resident in my community of Mission Hills, who is helping to raise awareness about this autoimmune disease.

#CalTrans Maintenance Update:

My office often gets calls about the status of the Interstate 210 Pavement Project. The project began in Summer 2020 and is expected to last through Winter 2023/2024. This project is a result of the $135.5 million project that will repave the roads from Wheatland Avenue to the I-5. These funds come directly from SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
The I-210 Project will replace pavement on 52 lanes. On and off-ramps, connectors and adjacent shoulders will also be rehabilitated. Overhead sign structures, traffic loop detectors, center median barrier, and the guardrail system will be upgraded. The freeway lighting system and traffic signals at on and off-ramps will be improved. The project will also add stormwater treatment devices to eliminate trash from storm water drain systems.

All 55-hour weekend work has been completed. There are no roadwork plans scheduled. If there is, our office will notify the community via social media. Caltrans is on schedule to complete the major items of work by Summer 2023. To find out more details about this project, please visit: https://bit.ly/I-210freeway.

If you would like to get updates about the project via e-mail please contact my office at (818) 504-3911.

California’s workers are the backbone of our economy.

This year I was proud to support bills such as #AB2183, which supports our farm workers and their election process, and #AB257, the FAST Recovery Act, calling for higher wages and better working conditions for California’s fast food workers.

These hard workers need our support. To all those who are able to enjoy the day off and those who are working today, I wish you all a happy labor day!
