All Fireworks are Illegal

Fireworks are illegal in the City of Los Angeles. Click here to report fireworks: https://lacityita.dynamics365portals.us/Complaint/fireworks/

Note: Fireworks complaints are accepted within the city limits of Los Angeles only. Incidents occurring in other areas should be reported to the law enforcement agency for that area. LAPD will not forward complaints to other agencies.

ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL in the City of Los Angeles. As much as LAPD tries to address the issue every year, the City of LA remains on tactical alert, so LAPD resources are stretched thin and they have to prioritize calls for service.
If you have an actual address to where the fireworks are coming from, or the identity of people selling them, please forward it to your LAPD Senior Lead Officer so they can do a follow-up at the residence. If you have a description of the individual(s) responsible, that’s even better, but not necessary.
You can also call the non-emergency number 877-ASK-LAPD (877-275-5273) for fireworks.
Also send an email to your Senior Lead Officer to make them aware of the location.

Risk of Infections during 4th of July Weekend

It may be tempting to attend a large gathering this 4th of July weekend; however, the risk of infections remains extremely high. To date, there have been over 100,000 positive cases and more than 3,000 deaths in Los Angeles County related to COVID-19.

If you must go out, maintain physical distance and stay at least six feet apart from people you don’t live with. Cover your face every time you leave your home to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

NEW ORDERS: In the wake of these rising numbers, Governor Newsom has ordered all bars closed. In addition, beaches, piers, and beach bike paths in the City and County of L.A. will be closed from Friday, July 3 to Monday, July 6.

On July 1, four LAPD volunteers/S-T residents deployed to locations in Tujunga and Shadow Hills. Volunteers used LIDAR (laser) guns to track vehicle speed and cameras to record plates. Five police officers in pursuit cars or motorcycle led the project.
Eleven speeders were ticketed, warned, or will receive notices that LAPD has recorded their excess speed. Every few minutes, officers and volunteers received thumbs ups and thank-you’s from residents—although not from speeders.
Officers helped a lady with a disabled SUV out of lanes on high-speed Sunland Blvd. One speeder presented a suspicious registration that may receive DMV legal action.
LAPD volunteers and officers will continue laser-gun speed-tracking sorties at random dates, hours and locations.
We must ALL emphatically discourage speeding every chance we get! Speed is THE major factor in Foothill suffering the highest number of traffic deaths among all LAPD divisions. The life you save….
Very best! | Jon von Gunten | STNC Rep to LAPD Neighborhood Watch | STNC Safe Traffic and Transportation Committee.
