Report any Issues Caused by Rain Storms

Winter weather may bring multiple storms and disasters such as floods, mudslides, and debris flows. To report any issues caused by rain storms please call 3-1-1, download the MyLA311 App or report online through the MyLA311 website.

Properly filled and placed sandbags are best used to divert moving water, redirecting storm and debris flow away from property improvement. LAFD is providing up to 25 free ready to fill sandbags per household at all Neighborhood Fire Stations. The department is not able to fill, deliver, and install or remove sandbags. For more information, please visit https://bit.ly/3qgyReh.

It is critical to stay alert and up-to-date with the latest news. Sign up for Notify LA by texting ‘READY’ to 888-777 to receive the latest emergency and storm information.

Before you head to the trash can, did you know that you can safely and responsibly recycle Christmas trees?

1.- Remove all decorations, tinsel, and the stand from the tree.
2.- Cut the tree into pieces, if needed, to fit into a green bin.
3.- Place the tree pieces inside the green bin and put them out for regular pick-up on collection day.

If your Christmas tree is too big to cut and place inside the green bin, simply place the tree curbside next to your green waste bin on collection day. Flocked Trees cannot be recycled. Please place them into the black container to go to the landfill. For more information, please visit https://bit.ly/3pdM6gC.

Distributed 1,000 Food Boxes

Our local food pantries temporarily close during the holiday season and many in our community rely on them for groceries. In my ongoing efforts to address food insecurity, I partnered with our local food pantries, churches and community organizations to identify families in need across the district, in total we distributed 1,000 food boxes.

Valentina and the Orellana-Peralta family deserve justice. The video released today by the LAPD reaffirms the need for an independent investigation and accountability for the events that led to the death of Valentina.

AB 1506, a law that I co-authored, gives the California Department of Justice the power to conduct its own investigation into this horrific tragedy. We will not rely on the LAPD investigating themselves. We will get answers. We must have accountability. We must have justice for Valentina.

I am focused on providing whatever support the Orellana-Peralta family needs at this time. I offer them my prayers and deepest condolences as they grieve for the loss of Valentina.

No family deserves to live through this pain and we must do everything we can to ensure this never happens again.

Valentina and the Orellana-Peralta family deserve justice.
