LADWP Updated Electric Meters

In an effort to increase energy efficiency, the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP) updated electric meters. The new smart meters share real-time usage details with LADWP, and allow the department to quickly identify and respond to service issues. Customers should have received a notice detailing that their meter was replaced. Customers who did not receive a replacement should have received a notice.

Olivia Mitchell Youth Council

As a student at San Fernando High School, I was selected to participate in Student Day in Government which was Mayor Tom Bradley’s effort to introduce youth to local government from all parts of our city. That early introduction ignited my passion for City service and fuels my work for investments in youth to help them achieve their full potential.

To provide this opportunity for today’s youth, I introduced legislation that was approved by the City Council to create the Olivia Mitchell Youth Council. The youth council will include two youth representatives between the ages of 16-25 from each council district. This year-long paid program gives young people the opportunity to learn the inner workings of the City of Los Angeles, work alongside city department staff, and advise elected officials on solutions to solve issues within their communities.

Applications for the Olivia Mitchell Youth Council are open from January 28, 2022-February 28, 2022. For more information or to apply, visit https://youthcouncil.lacity.org

The airport operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides no mitigation protections or investments to our community. In fact, the community bornes the burden of the airport which has seen seven incidents from 2018 to 2020 alone.
Join me in my call to hold the Whiteman Airport accountable by submitting a public comment at the Whiteman Airport Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting.

Introducing a Bill to Address CAL FIRE's Ongoing Firefighter Shortage

Thank you Senator Mike McGuire for introducing a bill to address CAL FIRE‘s ongoing firefighter shortage and create mandated minimum staffing levels!

I was glad to have been able to join Senator McGuire, CalFire Local 2881, and the California Professional Firefighters this morning and discuss how important this bill is in keeping our firefighters safe and healthy.
Our firefighters can’t do their job and keep California safe from wildfires if they’re constantly overworked and aren’t given a chance to rest.

Thank you Senator Mike McGuire for introducing
