Yesterday, we lit up City Hall and today we were heard across Los Angeles, calling for the end to sexual assault!

I co-hosted Denim Day at City Hall with Peace Over Violence to raise awareness, to educate, and to empower the women of Los Angeles to rise up, to speak out and join us in breaking the cycle of sexual violence.

Thank you to everyone for participating in Denim Day 2023 as a show of support for survivors.

Tomorrow is Denim Day. Why do we wear denim on April 26th? The Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction in the 90s based on their belief that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her remove them and thus consented. The day after the ruling, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work in solidarity with the victim.

@peaceovrviolnce launched Denim Day 24 years ago in response to the case, and urges supporters to wear jeans on Denim Day to protest misconceptions around sexual violence.

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26 on the Los Angeles City Hall, South Lawn steps (faces 1st St) and wear denim to show your solidarity with survivors!

I want to thank United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) nurses for coming to my District Office to speak with me on behalf of healthcare professionals.

More than 32,000 registered nurses and other healthcare workers who have dedicated their careers to saving lives are represented by UNAC/UHCP.

To better support our nurses, it is essential to determine what the legislature can do to assist with the staffing deficit that our state is currently facing. Thank you for coming to see me and for explaining how we can keep helping our nurses in these challenging circumstances.

Thank you to the Associated General Contractors of California (AGC) and their member contractor, Flatiron, for inviting me to tour the Interstate 210 Pavement Project currently taking place in #AD43.

The Interstate 210 Pavement Project is being built by Flatiron and Caltrans District 7, and is located in Sylmar. The I-210 Project will replace pavement on 52 lanes miles on the I-210 from State Route Wheatland Avenue to Interstate 5 to provide a minimum service life of 40 years. The on and off ramps, connectors and adjacent shoulders will also be rehabilitated and construction of the project is currently employing many craft workers who are community members.

I had an opportunity to tour the project, and I made a stop in the community of Lakeview Terrace where the pavement has been completed and new signs are being installed.

I am proud to advocate for critical infrastructure projects like the Interstate 210 Pavement Project, which is expected to be completed by early July.

Today, I visited Los Angeles Congregate Living a Congregate Living Health Facility in Sun Valley. I had the pleasure of meeting with the amazing staff and residents.

This facility serves our community’s most vulnerable members. This facility has six beds with disabled long term residents of the #43rdAssemblyDistrict.

It’s crucial that we prioritize their health and well-being. Thank you for the important work you do every day!
