From Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk – Abandoned Property on the 1300 Block of Eustace Street

Abandoned Property on the 1300 Block of Eustace Street

Safer and healthier communities in my district are a priority. When notified of unsafe or abandoned properties my staff can help navigate a resolution. An example of this was the abandoned property on the 1300 block of Eustace Street. Over many years it became a problem with mounds of junk and people trespassing on the property. My team coordinated with the City’s Department of Building and Safety on an abatement order for the property. The clean-up included the removal of four impounded junk vehicles, demolition of all structures, removal of 1,194 square feet of demolished materials, and removal of 420 yards of debris. The back fence was also secured to prevent further trespassing.

This property is an example of how community members can alert my office to a problem that can be resolved by working together. If you spot a similar issue in your neighborhood or have abandoned vehicles and illegal dumping, report it to MyLA311. It’s free, easy, and can be done in four ways:

•Dial 3-1-1 from your phone
•Report on their website https://myla311.lacity.org/
•Download and use “MyLA311” app from your smartphone
•Call the Bureau of Sanitation Customer Service Center (800) 773-2498

For abandoned vehicles, please call Los Angeles Department of Transportation at (818) 374-4823.

If you have any questions or concerns about any neighborhood issues please call my Sylmar District Office at (818) 756-8409, Pacoima District Office at (818) 485-0600, or Sunland-Tujunga office at (818) 352-3287. You can also report issues using our CD7 online request form: https://bit.ly/cd7requestform.
