From Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk – Repair Work with Bureau of Street Lighting on Copper Wire and Power Theft

Copper wire and power theft (CWPT) incidents have dramatically increased citywide and our community has been impacted dramatically. I am pleased to share that working closely with our Bureau of Street Lighting (BSL) we are beginning repairs on the outages throughout the district, beginning with the largest grid affecting 38 lights out currently in Pacoima. BSL personnel shortages coupled with copper wire theft resulted in a backlog of street light outages in the city.

Today’s work marks the beginning of our comprehensive effort to address this problem. If you see a copper wire and/or power theft please contact our LAPD Foothill at (818)756-8861 or Mission Division at (818) 838-9800. My office is also here to help you connect with LAPD, please contact my Pacoima office at (818) 485-0600, Sylmar office at (818) 756-8409, or Sunland-Tujunga office at (818) 352-3287.
