My Summer Paid Intern, Yamileth, finished her last day in my District Office and is on her way back to UC Berkeley.
My paid internship program offers an opportunity for our youth to explore and experience what Public Service is all about.
It is passionate and determined young leaders like Yamileth that give me hope for our future.
Thank you for all of your hard work this Summer! I wish you a great school year!

Since being elected, prioritizing investments that improve accessibility and repairs to aged infrastructure has remained a strong focus. For years, our community has had to contend with crumbling infrastructure and it’s why I worked with the Bureau of Engineering and Department of Recreation and Parks to install new sidewalks and other slated improvements at Brand Park in Mission Hills on San Fernando Mission Blvd. between Noble Ave. and Sharp Ave. In addition, Brand Park will also be home to 14 newly planted trees and more improvements at the park are slated.
This planned improvement could not have been done without the collaboration and teamwork between departments, staff, and community members.

If you have a corridor in mind that may benefit from sidewalk repairs please contact my Pacoima office at (818) 485-0600, Sylmar office at (818) 756-8409, or Sunland-Tujunga office at (818) 352-3287

Earlier this year, I secured funding to resurface both the upper and lower parking lots of McGroarty Arts Center. We’ve worked closely with the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the McGroarty Arts Center team to complete this project in time for its reopening for in-person courses on September 26, 2022. McGroarty Arts Center is currently offering virtual pottery and painting courses.

Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Our annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration

For decades, Ukrainian Independence Day has been a joyous occasion marked by festivals, parades, and celebrations of the tremendous resilience and spirit of the Ukrainian people. But today, there will not be the usual celebrations in Ukraine – because today also marks exactly six months since Vladimir Putin launched a bloody and unprovoked invasion of their sovereign nation.
This weekend, I had the privilege of meeting with some of my Ukrainian American constituents at the Ukrainian Culture Center in Hollywood to mark this special and solemn occasion. We will continue to pray for the Ukrainian people – and pledge our unwavering support until peace at last returns and beyond.

I’ve got an important update for folks living in the 28th District. Between September 6 and September 20, a large water pipeline that serves Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, and parts of La Crescenta needs to undergo emergency repairs to fix a leak. To conserve water during this critical time, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is asking us all to suspend outdoor watering for that two-week period. If we all do our part, we can ensure this project goes smoothly and that this newly-repaired pipeline can serve our community for years to come.

I marched with my Assembly colleagues & UFW advocating for #AB2183. CA’s farm workers work hard to provide us with the food we eat & deserve to organize the way that works best for them. That’s why we are asking California Governor to support #AB2183.

I adjourned in memory of Rod Garcia, founder of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Rod Garcia founded the organization inside his garage. It started off as an organization with only 6 members ultimately becoming the largest Latino Engineering organization in the nation. He leaves a long-lasting legacy behind for Latinos in engineering, his friends and family.
