Thank you to our community leaders for alerting my office of trash and debris on state property. My team reached out and coordinated with Caltrans District 7 to conduct a trash and debris cleanup at the Interstate 5 SouthBound Paxton Street off-ramp in Pacoima last week. Thank you CalTrans for keeping our residents and motorists safe!

Deputy Chief Graham Everett: thank you for your decades of service to the City of Los Angeles.

As a firefighter’s daughter, I’ve tried to make sure that the Los Angeles Fire Department reflects the best of who we are. Deputy Chief Everett, who himself comes from a family of firefighters, was an important partner in that endeavor—particularly in my role as Chair of the City’s Public Safety Committee.

Known for leading with great integrity, I’m wishing him the very best in his retirement.

Communities like ours have long been overlooked and deprived of their fair share of City resources, but I’ve been working hard to change that.

In partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Sanitation’s Altered Shift Response Team, which is dedicated to maximizing staff efficiencies and scheduling to accelerate the removal of bulky items, my office delivered for our neighbors in North Hills and Pacoima this week by removing blight from our streets. You can expect this good work to continue because, in my role as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee, we allocated supplemental funds last year for the Altered Shift Response Team.

But we can’t do this alone. If you see graffiti, or bulky items, or want to report a pothole or broken street light, please dial 311, visit https://myla311.lacity.org/, or download the MyLA311 app.

Holding the victims of the terror attack in Jerusalem in my thoughts.

This heinous murder of innocent people — on International Holocaust Remembrance Day — must be condemned in the strongest terms.

We cannot — and will not — allow antisemitism and hate to spread.

Three days ago, many of us were woken up by the 4.2 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Malibu.

Fortunately, no damages or injuries were reported, but it serves as an important reminder that we must be prepared for future earthquakes.

We’ve compiled some information for you and your loved ones.

On Tuesday, the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count took place in Council District 7. It was a success because of volunteers like Stephanie Ramirez, Sergio Acosta, Marilu Martinez, and Fernando Nuñez, who are mentioned in this article by the San Fernando Valley Sun. They could have been anywhere else that night, but they showed up and did their part to help tackle the homelessness crisis, which requires an all-hands-on-deck approach.

The information we collected is absolutely critical—it informs how we allocate our resources, how we dispatch and deploy resources, and it helps give us a sense of where we’re making progress or where we’re not.

Thank you to staff from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), from Mayor Karen Bass’ office, and from Senator Caroline Menjivar’s office for their support.
